Top of Mind Thursday August 5, 2015:Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh My
Last week an American hunter illegally killed a beloved lion in Zimbabwe. The backlash was rapid and severe.
In an instant, an accident can be a life-changing event. Whether through catastrophic injuries or the loss of a loved one, a motor vehicle accident can lead to emotional and financial turmoil. It is wise to seek the counsel of a skilled workers comp lawyer Glendale when you have questions regarding your legal options for monetary compensation.
Supposedly, the hunter, a dentist from the Midwest, had to close his dental practice and go into hiding because he received threats on his life. Zimbabwe wants him extradited so he can face charges in that country.
Public sentiment to killing trophy animals has been shifting over time, as many people realize these endangered creatures should be protected, not hunted. But the strong reaction to this killing shows not only how a message can spread virally in today’s connected world, but how quickly the public can be galvanized for a response.
Are you prepared if a major disruptive incident were to occur in your industry? Would you respond quickly, or wait for the public backlash?
Cecil the lion is no more, but ironically his demise may help save his fellow lions, tigers, and bears. Oh my.
