A few thoughts at the end of a holiday week:
- It looks like our politicians in Washington may finally be getting their act together to avoid the fiscal cliff. As I suspected, they are likely to solve a much smaller problem than the one they have been broadcasting about for months, but at least both sides have finally moved off the dime.
- The way to solve a big problem is to break it into small, manageable bite sized pieces. You can’t eat the whole cow at once–neither can you solve a huge complicated governmental problem without breaking it down to smaller pieces.
- Be wary of the knights in shining armor that are riding into Washington to save the day. Too many times those who show up with a flourish to put out the fire are the ones who were the arsonists to start with.
- Peace on earth and goodwill to men is a lovely thought. Why is it only given serious attention during the 4 weeks of the year between Thanksgiving and Xmas?
