This past week, though, the state experienced severe rainstorms, delivering more than 350 billion gallons of water into Northern California reservoirs, all but alleviating the 5-year drought in the northern part of the state.
In fact, so much rain came down so quickly, that much of it was wasted–with rivers overflowing their banks and reservoirs spilling over beyond capacity.
In business, we spend so much time trying to “make rain” that we often don’t have a plan for what to do when too much comes in at once. Too many leads can’t be followed up in a timely fashion. Too many product orders can’t be fulfilled. Too many new customers can’t be supported.
How you would cope if your rainmaking efforts succeeded big time? Are you ready? Can you bring in additional resources? How can you scale to handle increased demand?
Ask these questions now. Before your best business efforts are washed away with the storm.
