With each new year, we typically see a flurry of new year’s resolutions: to eat better, exercise more, or improve in some specific way.
For most of us, these resolutions last anywhere from a few days to a few weeks until they fade away–set aside by the demands of every day life.
This year I suggest foregoing the traditional resolutions which require us to do something different to change. Instead, try envisioning the desired outcome as a given and think about what actions you’ll reinforce to maintain that good result.
For example, envision 2014 as the year your organization will be seen as a leader in your market space. Now determine the 2 or 3 behaviors you’re doing right that you’ll want to reinforce. How will you build upon what you’re already doing to go to the next level?
Focus on building on your strengths, not resolving to fix your weaknesses.
