Today we celebrate the 4th of July, Independence Day, with parades, barbecues, fireworks, and general good cheer.
It’s a great time to appreciate the privileges we have living in a free democracy. But this is also a good time to think about other “declarations of independence” we may want to make.
For example, how about declaring independence from bad customer service once and for all? Or declaring that we are free to stop and create ways to drive our businesses forward, without replicating the mistakes of others before us? How about declaring the freedom to be creative and innovative, perhaps even to fail now and then, rather than to be enslaved to the “way we’ve always done it” mentality?
We’re at the midpoint of the year. As you enjoy the holiday, take time to consider what you’d like to have happen for you, individually and as an organization, over the next six months. What do you need to put in place now to be celebrating success at the end of the year?
Then go out and claim the independence you need to make this happen.
