The disappearance last Saturday of Malaysian Airlines Flight 370, a 777 with 239 people onboard, is tragic.
At this point, it’s highly unlikely that the aircraft will be found intact or that there are any survivors of what is likely a crash.
However, it’s heartwarming to see the way the international community has come together to search for the plane. Vietnam, Thailand, China, the US and other countries have all sent forces to help the Malaysians try and locate the wreckage of the plane.
Furthermore, individuals around the globe have joined the search virtually by devoting time and effort to reviewing the tens of thousands of images of the search area collected by satellites and surveillance.
Working collaboratively, there’s no question the fate of the plane and the people onboard will eventually be revealed. We see this type of collaborative spirit whenever there’s a major disaster–earthquake, flood, typhoon. Imagine what we could accomplish if we could maintain collaboration at this level on an ongoing basis.
