My new BMW comes with a feature called Roadside Assist, but to be honest, I didn’t pay much attention when the sales rep explained this to me…
…until last weekend when, 60 miles from home, I managed to lock my keys in the car.
(The car is also supposed to know not to lock when the key is inside, but it turns out the battery on the remote was low so the key was not detected.)
Standing outside my locked car, I thought to call the Assist hotline. After asking a few security questions, the rep sent a signal to unlock the driver’s side door. She said it might take up to 5 minutes, but she had barely finished talking when the door unlocked.
What could have been a pretty nasty situation was resolved in less than 5 minutes thanks to a well thought-out service.
