Normally, presidential debates are about as interesting as watching paint dry. But this year’s contest is nothing if not unusual, and the debates reflect that.
What’s most fascinating is watching the way the candidates conducted themselves during the debates. Usually, politicians maintain a professional courtesy to each other. Not this year. Through the primaries into the general election, Donald Trump has insulted his opponents, interrupted them, and argued incessantly when his position didn’t prevail.
Last night, Trump refused to say he would accept the results of the electoral process–something that is fundamental to our democratic process–and calling into question whether he has the temperament to lead the country.
Many people have raised issues with Hillary Clinton, but no one has questioned her ability to stay the course and handle any obstacles put in her way. She has not let personal attacks draw her into the fray.
On November 8, the American people will decide which of these people we want to lead our country. It’s time to decide who we want to vote off the island.
