One of the casualties of domestic air travel the last several years has been the demise of the inflight meal.
Many travelers bemoaned the loss of this amenity, but the reality was that 99% of the time, these meals just weren’t very good anyway.
What’s happened over the last couple of years is a whole industry has developed to provide pre-made, pre-packaged, and a lot more interesting, meal choices in airports for passenger carry-on.
The choices get more and more extensive and include fresh and prepacked options. Last week I found a prepackaged box that included gluten-free and nut-free snacks (sunflower “butter” instead of peanut butter, with fruit rollups and rice crackers to make a kind of fake PB&J sandwich, plus chips and cookies). Not a bad alternative.
A change in airline policy resulted in a new opportunity for enterprising food suppliers. What kind of new opportunities are appearing that might easily feed your business?
